How my journey began
Hi there! Thank you so much for stopping by! My name is Chelsea, and I am the owner and the creator of The Simple House. I am a mama to two babes, and wifey to a husband who can really throw down in the kitchen! Lucky me :)
I have been obsessed with organization and home styling my whole life. However, it wasn’t until I turned from corporate, to stay-at-home mom, that I started to attack clutter and organization differently. My little family and I quickly started outgrowing our little home because our closets were so full of stuff. We hadn’t parked our cars in the garage in years, and I had no place to stash my latest Costco run. So I took a trip to Target, and Home Goods, in search of storage solutions and came home with pretty bins and baskets. I then discovered that these beautiful bins were only containing my clutter and that they alone, didn’t have the ability to organize.
To find some simplicity and order, I realized that I needed to purge A LOT of things that we had accumulated over time. I started with my kitchen “junk drawer” and never looked back. I found so much therapy in this decluttering process, and I was hooked. I needed every room, every closet, every drawer, every cabinet to be able to breathe, and it was so satisfying to witness the transformation. I was on a journey to create a home for my family that was functional, efficient, welcoming, beautiful, and simple. And all along the way, it was breathing life into me. And then one day I found a little account on IG called “The Home Edit”, and lightbulb emojis burst out of my head!
I soon learned that professional organizing was a real thing and I dove in head first, into all the education I could get about the industry. I quickly learned the importance of the decluttering process, and all the positive effects it has on your life. I watched keynotes, listened to podcast interviews, took online classes and read alllll the books. But none of those things taught me the most important lesson I’ve learned from organizing. Organizing isn’t just about being perfect or getting rid of everything you own, it's about customizing your life to work for you. It’s about living the way you want to live, but better. There is no one-size-fits-all option for decluttering and organizing, I created The Simple House to help you find the best solutions for your space and lifestyle. Having an organized environment has made such a huge impact on my mental health, and I hope to inspire others to consider the impact our environments have on our mental wellness, and work together to find a solution.
Let’s be realistic, your home won’t always look like Pinterest worthy perfection, but I definitely have an eye, and an appreciation for the aesthetic that’s created when style meets just the right organizational elements. Creating a personalized, maintainable system is first priority for me, followed by styling, to create simple joy in your simple house.
Thank you for stopping by and learning a little about me, now it's my turn to learn a little about you. Let’s work together and create a little piece of simplicity in your home.
